British fans of Downton Abbey will be happy with the news that season 5 is now being filmed in Bampton, in the UK – and many of them will also be pleased to have a chance to sample the kind of wines that Carson, the butler is often seen pouring.
The Downton Abbey red and white are now on sale in the UK for £12.99 each. They have been out in the US since 2013, for season 4. The two wines, made by Dulong Grand Vin in Bordeaux:
- Downton Abbey Claret 2012 – 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec
- Downton Abbey Blanc 2012 – a blend of 70% Muscadelle, 30% Semillon.
The Oxford Wine Company on its web site notes that:
“The Oxford Wine Company has secured the sole UK distribution rights from Bordeaux producer Les Grands Chais de France to distribute a Downton Abbey range of wines in the UK.
The wines have been created to mark the relaunch of the series this Autumn much of which is filmed in the village of Bampton very close to The Oxford Wine Company’s head office in Oxfordshire.”
