GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Vinea Swiss wine app was released a year ago for iPhones/iPads and now it’s available for android via Google Play. It’s been updated and improved, as are most apps after a few months on the market, but this already very useful app – and it’s free – now includes the winners of the 2013 Grand Prix du Vin Suisse, which is Switzerland’s national wine competition.
The awards ceremony was earlier this week in Bern. GenevaLunch feature on the award-winning wines.
In total the app has about 500 wine producers, with basic information about them, their main wines, and an excellent interactive map. The producers are selected based on their award-winning wines at major competitions as well as notoriety for their excellence, named by their peers.
For those of you who are not aware of it, the app last year replaced the hefty book published by the Vinea Association for several years, the 3-language Swiss Wine Guide (note: I edited the English version).
