GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The CFF rail company has started selling special package train + entry tickets for Expo 2015, which opens 1 May near Milan, Italy. The world expo’s theme is “Feeding the planet, energy for life” and the focus is on food. Switzerland will have a heavy presence at the fair, which is expected to attract 24 million visitors from around the world.
The CFF is putting on four special trains a day starting 1 May, with a fifth added in August, providing an additional 2,000 seats. The Swiss rail company is providing direct travel from Switzerland, making it possible to make a one-day visit to the fair. Reduced rates are available until the end of April; the CFF recommends reserving seats early, especially for the holiday periods.
CFF tickets from Lausanne, Bern and Zurich to Rho Fiera, the site of the fair, are currently CHF44, round-trip fare for an adult without a half-price card, and the entry fee to the fair is CHF27 if you buy it before 1 May – the number of CFF seats is limited, note.
