A1 problems Thursday morning between Lausanne, Geneva

Lake Geneva region, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Roadworks around Versoix on the A1 autoroute (direction: towards Geneva) ended by mid-morning, but traffic has been slowed in both directons by accidents.

Alps closed to trucks as snow continues on south side of Alps

Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Snow continued to fall late Wednesday and early Thursday in the Alps, particularly on the southern side, prompting a red alert for truck traffic in some areas where roads have become impassable.

Thonon and Lausanne get their Navibus

Swiss food treasures list runs from absinthe to zwieback

Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Switzerland has just inventoried its food, or at least 404 products that it considers part of its cultural heritage. The joy of eating in Switzerland includes Geneva’s Christmas vegetable, cardon, dried meat from Valais and Rivella and zwieback. Rivella is a commercial brand, but nevertheless a Swiss culinary invention.
