AA and science

22/03/2015 by Ellen Wallace 1 Comment

Recommended reading: The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Atlantic /April 2015

This is an article that will make a lot of people unhappy and others uncomfortable, as the author seeks, and doesn’t find, any scientific grounding for the 12 principles of AA. She’s not for or against, so much as a questioner, and the answers, or lack of them, that she comes up with give pause. Alcohol abuse is clearly a problem, but the source(s) and what’s done about the problem remain an area where more questions should be asked, and perhaps a little less blind faith applied.
