Martigny, Valais, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Xavier Bagnoud, the ex-PDC (centre-right Christian Democrat party) leading politician who was filmed nude, sniffing cocaine, remains in the headlines. Bagnoud was caught by a mobile phone camera and the film clip circulated on the Internet. He resigned from his party 6 May, shortly after 20 Minutes circulated the video clip publicly and before it spilled the additional story about his relations with a woman who had just left her husband. Three days later he resigned as president of the Swiss oenologues association (USOE), a key wine industry organization.
The latest wrinkle in the story is that his lawyer, Nicolas Voide, has resigned, saying that, given all the media hype, he is no longer the man to handle the case. Voide is up for consideration by the PDC, this week, for a key political post, Le Matin points out.
Le Matin also notes that Bagnoud will be questioned by police as the result of charges against him pressed by a man the paper describes as the husband of Bagnoud’s second mistress.
