Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Work began Monday on a two-year major renovation project at Cointrin International Airport in Geneva. the airport, built in 1968, was designed for one million passengers and by 2006 traffic had climbed to two million a year.
The terrace and the P9 (La Poste) parking area are now closed due to the construction work. The improvements are part of an eight-year plan to better equip the airport to handle current growth and projected traffic increases. The main terminal extension along its length covers the in-transit shopping area and the Skycom business lounge area. A new panoramic restaurant is being built on the third floor of the restaurant area.
