Cold showers for weekend fun as temps dip, snow forecast

31/08/2012 by Ellen Wallace

No point in drowning your sorrows over the sudden cold weather, but sampling the 1,500 wines on offer at Vinea, in Sierre, is a good Friday-Saturday option

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – If you’re heading outdoors this weekend, take along warm clothes! Temperatures in the mountains are expected to dip to negatives at 2,000 metres and snow could fall as low as 1,000 metres, highly unusual in late August, early September.

MeteoSwiss says we can expect rain off and on all weekend, with clearer skies and warmer temperatures during the day Sunday or Monday.

Big events on this weekend’s calendar include the final concerts of the St Prex Classics, the European Master’s golf tournament in Crans-Montana and the Vinea wine fair in Sierre. Check out the GenevaLunch list of what’s on in the region.
