Sion, Valais (Le Nouvelliste, Fre) – Valais has just named its first cantonal oenologist, responsible for overseeing the quality of the wine from Switzerland’s largest wine-producing canton, as well as promoting the canton’s wines and advising the government on its wine policies. Corinne Clavien is also the first female cantonal oenologist. She grew up in a winemaking family in the Valais, is already widely acclaimed as an excellent oenologue, or winemaking specialist, trained in Nyon at the federal research station at Changins.
