Bern, Switzerland (Le Matin, Fre) – A mere 40 tons of onions will be displayed and sold Tuesday in Bern when the city turns itself over to its famous annual onion festival. The number of onions is the same as in 2006, but down from previous, better-harvest years. Thousands of visitors are expected for the day-long sale with entertainment and some 650 stalls selling mainly food and decorations. The fair kicks off at 03.30 when the stallholders set up. According to Le Matin, thousands of people are expected.
