GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Geneva Lake Parade starts at 16:00 Saturday 4 July, with no shortage of sunshine, and plenty of heat. Police in the city are warning party-goers to be careful because of the heat – drink plenty of water and pay attention to the kind of excesses that lead to dehydration.

Geneva is offering a discount on public transport tickets Saturday to encourage people to hop on a bus or tram and help reduce the ozone level, currently too high with the heat wave.

For information on changes to public transport routes, see the TPG site’s special page.

Traffic in the city will be rerouted Saturday and Sunday until noon because of the Lake Parade. Particularly affected are: Avenue de France, quai Wilson, quai du Mont-Blanc, Mont-Blanc bridge, quai Général-Guisan and quai Gustave-Ador.
Starting at 14:30 Avenue de France, quai Wilson from the rue des Alpes and adjacent streets will be closed to traffic. The  Mont-Blanc bridge will close at 17:30. The parc de la Grange will be closed as of 18:00.
