GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The new front door to the main railway station in Geneva was unveiled Thursday morning 5 December and it’s – take a guess – a Swiss cheese! The large door that’s full of holes, designed by Geneva artist Carmen Perrin, is one of a series of new sights for travelers passing through Gare Cornavin.
The monumental 1930s frescoes by Max Weber have been restored by an artist who specializes in this work and the historic clock has been restored as well, by Mobatime.
Travelers can once again pass through the main hall. One new shop, Prêt à Manger, opened today. The ramp to platform 3 is open again.
The official inauguration of the completely transformed station will be held in August 2014.
