Icy roads, heavy traffic on Vaud A9 provoke 8 accidents in 4 hours

09/12/2008 by Ellen Wallace

Winter mornings, A9 near Lausanne: traffic is always heavy

Lake Geneva region, Switzerland (24 Heures, Fre) – Eight accidents in four hours between Chablais in eastern Vaud and the area around Lausanne: roads throughout eastern Vaud were badly snarled by traffic jams Tuesday morning.

According to 24 Heures there were no serious injuries, but the series of minor road accidents on the eastern Vaud stretch of the A9 autoroute encouraged many motorists to take side roads, especially into Lausanne, making many of those extremely slow, too.
