Wine pick: La Chàtagneréaz 2012

01/10/2013 by Ellen Wallace Leave a Comment

ELLEN’S WINE WORLD – Red wine, La Chàtagneréaz Mont-sur-Rolle 2012 Grand Cru. Winery: Château de Châtagneréaz.

  • Notes: Despite its youth, a wine big enough for a meal, good with red meat, grilled foods. Red with purple highlights. Nose of red fruits, black cherries,  should be more intense with age. Round in mouth, tannins are smooth. Drinkable now, better in 2-5 years.
  • Grape varieties: blend of Gamay, Gamaret and Garinoir.
  • Where I enjoyed this: Guillon d’Or awards evening, with other wines from the Clos, Domaines & Châteaux group, where it stood out.
  • Sample price: CHF16.50, Galaxus.ch
