Starting in 2014 the system will run trains more frequently to handle the load, every two and a half minutes during peak travel times, with the number of trains increased from the current 12 to 14, reports ats.
The number of passengers has risen from 21.9 million in 2009 to 27.6 this year and by 2020 the system will need to handle double the original load, mainly through buying more trains to allow them to run every two minutes.
