Lawmakers want to raise drinking age to stop binge drinking

Switzerland (24 Heures, Fre) – Binge drinking has reached Swiss teenagers, 24 Heures reports, with higher numbers of young people treated in emergency rooms and concerned lawmakers wanting to raise the legal drinking age. The latest moves come from Zug and Bâle-Campagne, with proposals to raise the age for purchasing all alcoholic drinks to 18. Swiss federal law currently allows beer and wine at age 16, stronger drinks at age 18.
