Morges-Lausanne autoroute signals system installed, work nears end

04/11/2009 by Ellen Wallace

A1 autoroute roadworks near Morges, Switzerland

Morges / Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Workers have now completed a key part of the roadworks to widen the A1 autoroute between Morges and Lausanne thanks to a series of night closings. A system of 120 variable signs and 40 fixed ones have been put in place, a system with 8 kilometres of cables and 850 electrical connections.

The road is being widened from four to six lanes, but the additional lanes will be open only as traffic flow demands it and the signaling system is part of an automated system that will measure traffic flows.

The roadworks will be finished 6 December.
