New rules for eyesight and drivers’ license in Switzerland

01/04/2009 by Ellen Wallace

Even the illegal window cleaners in front of the WTO won't help you if you're eyesight isn't sharp enough for the road

Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Switzerland is adopting the same technical specifications as the European Union for eyesight and drivers’ licenses, which the government describes as not more stringent, but more precise.

For drivers with licenses that require them to wear glasses or contact lenses, the current license will remain valid as long as they are not stopped for breaking road laws.

The new rules will reduce license eyesight regulations from three to two categories: cars and buses/trucks.
