16,000 people for Geneva marathon

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Geneva marathon, with 16,000 people, is on this weekend, as is the Romandie car rally, both of which will disrupt area traffic, say police.

The marathon starts Friday morning with registration at the Jardin Anglais in Geneva, with several events culminating in the big marathon and half-marathon races on Sunday. Expect detours and delays for the three days, with parking at a minimum in the city centre. Details

Also in Geneva Friday, the 1 May parade during the day will cause traffic problems, particularly from 15:00-16:30, around Blvd James-Fazy.

Tour de Romandie cycling race on

The Tour de Romandie cycling race began Tuesday and continues in the region this weekend, with roads closed from 09:00 to 16:00 in several locations. Areas to avoid with your car, according to the schedule released by Vaud police:
