GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AMONG THE VINES – The 2014 Michelin red guide for Suisse/Schweiz is published Wednesday 21 November. This year’s guide shows a remarkable 110 stars given to Swiss restaurants, a 10 percent increase in the number compared to a year earlier.
Two restaurants have three stars, out of just over 100 three-star restaurants in the world. The two top restaurants remain unchanged, Hôtel de Ville in Crissier, canton Vaud, and Schauenstein in Fürstenau, canton Graubuenden.
One new two-star, the Focus at the Parkotel in Vitznau, canton Lucerne, brings the total in this category to 19.
Fifteen new one-star restaurants are in the lineup, including three in Geneva: Bayview at the President Wilson hotel, Il Lago at the Four Seasons hotel and the cutting edge year-old Le Flacon in Carouge.
Zurich has two new one-star restaurants, the mesa with its excellent wine cellar, and the nearly centenary glass gazebo design restaurant Le Pavillon.
