BERN, SWITZERLAND – Geneva-Lausanne will take 3 minutes longer, but Morges is being added back to the ICN stops; Grandson is connected to Lausanne; Geneva-St Gallen will be 18 minutes shorter with no stops between Winterthur and St Gallen; the Lausanne-Zurich ICN trains will be moved by 30 minutes, which will allow Yverdon/Neuchtael-Zurich trains to operate more frequently.
Those are a smattering of the changes to come in December 2015 when the Swiss SBB/CFF rail schedule for 2016 goes into effect. The company issued the new schedule 26 May for public consultation, saying it is the “biggest change to the schedule since 2004” when the Rail 2000 programme went into effect.
For 2016 a significant part of the changes is due to completion of Zurich’s diagonal line and the start of works in the Lausanne area that are part of the major Léman 2030 project.
For the detailed list of changes, the CFF has created a three-language site; comments are accepted until 14 June.
