GENEVA, SWITZERLAND / AMONG THE VINES – The Vinea Swiss Wines app, the most complete guide to wines in the country, lists 500 of the top producers; after a year in the iPhone store it’s just been updated and the Android version is out.
The app is free of charge and works in English, French and German. It’s produced by the Vinea Association, which runs a number of international wine competitions and the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse (GPVS) national competition. The update includes tasting notes for the 36 best wines at the 2013 GPVS and 50 new producers have been added, including this year’s GPVS winners.
The app in 2012 replaced the hefty Swiss Wine Guide, produced and printed every two years for several years in three languages.
For any of the 5,000 people who have downloaded the app to date, the changes you’ll notice include:
- Geolocalization, covering all of the wineries.
- best-loved features of popular apps, such as the option to share on social networks and to create favourites, now improved
- search filters
- news section with more than 15 items to date
- the option to change languages: the app user can now switch app languages without having to change the language of the phone.
Several design improvements have made navigation easier and more intuitive.
Ed. note: The Vinea Association has developed these applications in partnership with the Lausanne-based agency Bread and Butter, specialists in digital books. The authors of the last editions of the Swiss Wine Guide edited the app texts: Emeline Zufferey for the French, Eva Zwahlen for the German and Ellen Wallace, responsible for the English version.
