Travel alert: Lausanne Marathon

24/10/2014 by Ellen Wallace

If you were thinking of looking at the vineyards around La Tour-de-Peilz Sunday, think again! You won't be able to drive on the lake road and you'll be competing for space with more than 14,000 runners!
If you were thinking of looking at the vineyards around La Tour-de-Peilz Sunday, think again! You won’t be able to drive on the lake road and you’ll be competing for space with more than 14,000 runners!

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – The Lausanne Marathon takes place this weekend and canton Vaud police are warning motorists that the lake road between Lausanne and La Tour-de-Peilz will be closed most of Sunday.

The 780a route national will be closed from 07:30 to 17:00, although drivers should be aware the re-opening is dependent on the race.

They’re also being warned to drive with caution in the area, which will be busy with people involved with the race and spectators.

Inscriptions for the race have broken previous records, with 14,620 people registered to run.
