Bern, Switzerland (RSR, Fre) – Each person in Switzerland rode 2,009 km on average in 2006, an increase of 80km over 2005, the national transport department reports. We took the train on average 44 times during the year.
The country moves ahead of Japan, where passengers ride only 1,950 km a year. And the Swiss figures inlclude only national rail lines, not all the smaller regional ones.
