ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – The world’s largest pumpkin is a record-setting 953.5 kilos and it comes from canton Zurich. The new official heavyweight was named Sunday 5 October 2014 when a pumpkin from the Jucker farm in Zurich became the largest in the national Swiss competition.

Grower Beni Meier in Pfungen broke his own record, just one week old, for another pumpkin that weighed 951 kg. pumpkin. He presented it last week at the Brandenburg pumpkin championship in Germany.

The 30-year-old farmer’s latest behemoth weighed in at less than his 2013 world entry, but that pumpkin was disqualified for having a hole.

This is the first year that the largest pumpkin was not American.
