Switzerland’s big wine year is starting to receive news coverage in the wine world. By spring it will be in full swing in the general media. Here’s a major article by Spanish media Vinetur on the OIV meeting in Geneva.
The three events that mark this year are the huge wine competition, the Concours de Bruxelles the first week of May in Aigle, the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) World Congress in Geneva 15 to 19 July and the 2019 Fête de Vignerons in Vevey 18 July to 11 August.
The OIV announced a mid-January working visit to Geneva to prepare for its congress, which will allow hundreds of visitors to combine their working sessions with a festive trip to Vevey immediately after: “The Director General and the President had working meetings to launch the first logistical stages and to visit the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG), which will host the experts and delegates participating in the 42nd OIV Congress. They were welcomed by the Swiss Organising Committee, including President Simone de Montmollin, Vice-President Dominique Maigre, Scientific Committee President François Murisier, and Head of the Swiss Delegation to the OIV Pierre Schauenberg.”
