My Irish-American roots can’t resist St Patrick’s Day and the greening of the world. In my wilder youth I had green beer (not good). Less wild, better taste: I went for Guinness. Yet more taste: I went for good Guinness, in pubs in County Clare or Galway.
I can’t do that today, but my heart is in the west of Ireland. Foregoing a good Guinness I am opting for a good glass of Swiss wine, a red blend from my village wine producer, David Kind. It’s lovely, but since it’s St Patrick’s Day, or nearly, a touch of green is in order – but not green beer, or green wine – just a bit of green wrapped around a wine worth drinking.
Sláinte mhaith! To your very good health!
