BERN, SWITZERLAND – The Rouvinez winery in Sierre was awarded the Amag Family Business Award 2014 Friday 5 September in Bern, out of a field of 100 candidates, some of whom were pre-selected and the others nominated.
It is the third such award for the prize, created in 2012 by the Amag Automobile company to honour family firms with a philosophy and way of living it that reflects sustainable practices and values. The previous two winners were Trisa AG (2012) and Siga Holding AG (2013).
The groupe Entreprises et Domaines Rouvinez is managed today by Dominique and Jean-Bernard, sons of Bernard, who founded the company in 1947. The third generation joined the firm official in a management capacity in 2013: Véronique Besson-Rouvinez and Frédéric Rouvinez.
In addition to the honour the winery and the finalists each have access to a VW Caddy for a year; Rouvinez will keep their vehicle at the end of the year. The other finalists were Beck Glatz Confiseur AG from Bern, F. Hunziker + Co AG in Dietikon and Kuhn Rikon AG from Rikon.
The nine judges: Klaus Endress, chairman of the board of Endress+Hauser; Pascale Bruderer Wyss, member of the Swiss parliament upper house; Monika Ribar, company Swiss board member; Franziska Tschudi Sauber, Wicor Holding AG CEO and member of the board; Philipp Aerni, director of the CCRS at the university of Zurich; Roger de Weck, director of public broadcast company SRG SSR; Hans Hess, chairman of Swissmem; Jürg Läderach, owner of Läderach AG and Thomas Staehelin, president of the association of private firms (VPAG). The selection process was developed by the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability CCRS at the University of Zurich.
