Swiss Wine Week is a wonderful new idea from the wine and food industries in Switzerland. It kicks off country-wide Thursday 28 November and lasts for 10 days. It brings together restaurants and wineries to give diners a chance to discover Swiss wines. So far, for this first-ever event that promises to become a national annual week, 120 restaurants and 200 wineries are taking part. Don’t miss it!
Each restaurant promises to offer three dishes, each with a glass of wine from a different Swiss wine-producing region (there are 6). The restaurants range from corner bistros with dishes on offer for CHF14 to some of the best restaurants in the world, with prices to match!
These are dishes, not menus, although a few restaurant owners may be choosing to offer three-course menus. The price you’ll see on the web site is for the food and wine.
The idea is to pair good wines with a restaurant’s dishes to help customers learn more about the variety of Swiss wines and what they work with; the pairings are selected by the restaurant chef or chef and sommelier for restaurants with wine specialists.
You can search for restaurants and for wines by type and by geographic region using the map and reserve directly on the well-organized site.
