GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – One of the highlights on the wine calendar in French-speaking Switzerland has become the night when fine restaurants couple with top wineries to offer an evening of older vintages.
March 19 will be the fourth Nuit des vieux millésimes, organized by Alexandre Truffer, who is the regional editor for the Vinum wine review. Fifteen restaurants are taking part in the event. They share three points:
- vintage wines, 2009 or older, are served
- the evening offers a gastronomic meal designed to accompany and show off the best of these wines
- a wine producer presents the wines.
Wine and fine food treat in London
A very special feature this year is that for the first time an eatery outside Switzerland is taking part. Mosimann’s restaurant in London is featuring the wines of Robert Taramarcaz from Sierre, seven older vintages paired with dishes designed by head chef Jérôme Henry (check out the Mosimann menu, Nuit des vieux millésimes, which has a strong Swiss influence). The restaurant was the first outside France to be given two Michelin stars, and it has been the Prince of Wales’s caterer since 2000. Price, 160.00 £.
