GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Swiss Wine Promotion (SWP) is developing a Swiss Wine Observatory but details have come out this week as the project moves forward.

Sébastien Fabbi, managing director of SWP, told news agency ats that it will be published three times a year starting in 2015. It will include information on average prices and sales, to help wine producers get a better handle on market trends and consumer tastes and interests.

Canton Vaud has for several years had a similar report that provides very detailed information, but this will cover all Swiss wines.

It will be available to wineries online, for easy access to up-to-date information.

The Federal Agriculture Office, OFAG, will provide financial support for the project, as it does for a number of other major Swiss wine projects, usually through a system of matching funds.
